Service Projects

AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS – (AED) – Our club has placed an AED defibrillator in every high school and junior high school in Lincoln parish.  It is the goal of our District Governors that every school in the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee Kiwanis District has at least one defibrillator in its school.

BACK PACK PROGRAM – Our club provides food for children that have been identified as having a need at I. A. Lewis School.  These students rely on State furnished meals for breakfast and lunch during the week, and our goal is to bridge the gap over the weekend.

BOY SCOUTS – Our club provides funding to the Ouachita District for their general fund.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB of North Central Louisiana Our club contributes to this organization that provides a safe, supervised environment for students K – 6th grade in which they can develop into positive and productive members of society.

BUDDY BALL – Our club contributes funding to this recently formed league which provides an opportunity for disabled children to participate in baseball. 

Circle K INTERNATIONAL– Our club contributes funding to our Kiwanis college organizations, La. Tech University and Grambling State University for general operating and special events.

DRUG COURT – This is a rehabilitation project of the 3rd Judicial Court, District Attorneys, and Sheriffs’ Offices which covers Lincoln and Union Parishes.  Our club provides funding for incentive awards for participants that successfully complete the various phases and completion of the program.

EARVIN RYLAND  YOUTH ART  FESTIVAL – This event gives Lincoln Parish students in high schools and middle schools a venue to showcase their talents in the form of painting, drawing, and handcraft.  Our club with the help of the Lincoln Parish School Board and NCLAC organizes the entry and judging of the entries and funds the prizes and awards’ reception.

ELIMINATE PROJECT – This is a Kiwanis International project between Kiwanis International and UNICEF which has the goal of eliminating Maternal Neonatal Tetanus throughout the world. It takes only education and three vaccinations to save mothers and babies that are dying every 9 minutes from this disease.  Our club members support this project individually, and the club makes donations in honoring individuals inside and outside the club.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES LUNCHEON – Our club underwrites a portion of this function for this faith-based organization.

GOODWILL LUNCHING – Our club provides funding to this organization that promotes literacy to children in North Central Louisiana.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – Our club has organized a volunteer work team of members that will work on the construction of building new homes in Lincoln parish for families in need.

KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY – Our club provides funding to this faith-based organization that ministers to persons incarcerated in the state’s prisons.

KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL – Our club contributes funding to our Kiwanis high school organizations, Ruston High School and Cedar Creek High School for general operating and special events.

LINCOLN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL – Our club provides funding to sponsor a boy’s baseball team.

LOUISIANA MILITARY MUSEUM – This local museum provides a valuable insight through actual artifacts of the various military conflicts in which our country has been involved.  Our club provides financial support.

METHODIST CHILDREN’S HOME CHRISTMAS PARTY – Our club purchases and distributes Christmas presents to youth being housed at the Changing Attitude and Behavior home during a party sponsored by our club.

MED CAMPS –Our club provides funding to three children with disabilities to attend the summer camp each year.  We also join our Circle K and Key Club members along with other local organizations in helping to clean the buildings and grounds at Camp Alabama in preparation for summer activities.

NORTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA ART COUNCIL (NCLAC) SUMMER ARTS PROGRAM – Our club provides funding to sponsor six Lincoln Parish children to the NCLAC art camp.

NORTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA SUBSTANCE ABUSE CENTER – Our club contributes funds into the general fund of this organization. This provides a site for various groups to meet.  ALANON & AA are among the programs using this site.

OUTSTANDING YOUNG EDUCATOR, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER,  AND FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR AWARD – In connection with the Chamber of Commerce, our club funds the award given to the Young Person of the Year at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

PINE HILLS ADVOCACY CENTER – Our club contributes funding to this organization thas houses special programs of the Third Judicial District Attorney's Office. These programs include The Sexual Assault Center (SAC) and The Child Advocacy Center (CAC.  These programs are to assist survivors of sexual and violent crimes and their families.  It is to lessen the trauma for child victims of sexual and severe abuse.

ROLLING HILLS DISASTER UNIT – After a disastrous event has occurred, this faith-based organization provides food preparation services through the use of their mobile kitchen manned by volunteers for communities in need.  Our club makes a contribution to this organization and some of our members are volunteers.

RUSTON DIXIE BASEBALL TEAM – Our club provides funds to sponsor a boys’ baseball team.

RUSTON GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM – Our club provides funds to sponsor a girls’ softball team.

RUSTON-LINCOLN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION – Our club contributes funds for Christmas meals to families in need.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS – This function is sponsored by the Louisiana Tech Circle K International club.  Our club in turn supports the Circle K with a monetary contribution and volunteers to assist in the annual event.

TERRIFIC KIDS – Our club funds and arranges a food-themed party at the end of every grading period for students meeting goals set with their teacher.  These goals can include character development (classroom behavior), self-esteem (attendance) and perseverance (grade performance) among others. Students reaching their goals also receive a certificate and a local movie pass.  At the end of the school year, our club holds a banquet for all students that have met their goals throughout the year.  Students meeting their goal every grading period receive a plaque.



 IODINE DEFICIENCY – A past global project of Kiwanis International that we participated in that has eliminated the Iodine Deficiency.

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING – For many years, the Club members participated in the Christmas Fund raising effort of the Salvation Army by ringing bells at various kettle locations.  Salvation Army has chosen to withdraw from Ruston, but we eagerly await their return to the area.
